Rome, Salesianum, four days, 300+ partcipants from 35 countries from majority of Salesian Family 29 official groups together!

Already for the 30th time in history the Salesian Family Spirituality days were closed.

Every day some more participants are coming, so quite few of us were watching the talks on the large screen in the adjacent hall to the Aula Magna. Actually on the screen with the close off
pictures provided by the Eurofilm - Global production staff, you can enjoy more and get better insight than in the main hall.

Return to Don Bosco is not an easy operation.
And you like or not, you can't leave the Memoirs of the Oratory aside.

The passionate talk of fr. Aldo Giraudo was one of the highlightes of these days.
He offered some key of reading to this Don Bosco's testament for his 'beloved sons'.
Indeed the inner journey of Don Bosco as educator, pastor, disciple of Jesus giving himself
totally to God and to the poor youth, is traced with many subtle narratives, episods and images.

Memoirs of the Oratory, some two hundred pages of paperback edition of enjoyable reading
is at your hand. But probably not many of us have the patience and courage to go deeper.

When Fr. Braido called this book the 'Memoirs of the future', probably he hit the main point.
If we are serious with the future of the Salesian Charism, of Don Boscos legacy
we should read, meditate, confront and live the Memoirs.

We can read the MO with help of some smart introductions, guide for reading
- and we are STUDYING Don Bosco.

We can read the MO with an eye of an educator or pastor
- and we are DOING the mission of Don Bosco

We can follow the heart and mind of Don Bosco, trying to imitate him.
- and we are BECOMING his disciples.

Since 2007 I have been always travelling with a pocket English version of the Memoirs of the Oratory, unfortunately it was lost some months ago.

Starting next saturday, January 28, another journeys, I will try again bring the Memoirs of the future with me.

This novena - nine days before the Feastday of Don Bosco, i offer with a special
intention for new and more salesian missionary vocation. Indeed this year, until today
we have only a dozen of 'sure' missionary candidates for the Sept 30 missionary expedition n.143.

Just yesterday reached me one new application for the missions from America, Brasile and after the evening session of the SF spirituality days one young European Salesian offered himself
for Project Europe. Thanks be to God!
