Few weeks ago card. Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the CEP (Congregation for Evangelization of peoples) announced that a world-wide missionary prayer campaign will be launched for the Year of Faith. Few days after (May 11) Benedict XVI in this talk to the National Pontifical Missionary Works Directors shared his conviction, that TODAY the Church univesal mission needs more intense prayer!

Follow up:

Some 61 years ago Venerable Mons. Fulton J. Sheen(famous US bishop, 1995-1979)launched in 1951 radio program 'Catholic Hour'- this MISSIONARY ROSARY (each mystery of one color, representing each continent - green for Africa, read for America, white for Europe, blue for Oceania and yellow for Asia). Now this simple but meaningful way of praying the ROSARY is spread worldwide. Through daily meditation with Mary on the Mystery of Christ, we can easily bring into our life the universal mission of the Church.

Last week i was around the Vatican to buy some missionary rosary: in 3 shops all sold out!

Last February / April during the extraordinary visitation of Poland/Krakow Province, at the end of each community visit i shared the missionary rosary with each Salesian. It was very welcomed!

In the didactic materials for the Salesian Mission Day 2013 about Faith Journey in Africa
we suggest this simple practice of praying the rosary with a missionary touch to all Salesians
during the Year of the Faith.

The strong invitation of the Pope make us feel in the right direction: "Today the mission needs to renew trust in the action of God; it needs intense prayer so that His Kingdom will be done on earth as in heaven. We need to invoke light and strength from the Holy Spirit, and to commit ourselves with determination, decision and generosity to usher in, in a sense, “a new era of proclamation of the Gospel... " Benedict XVI, May 11, 2012
